Mouth on Fire: Combustible Complaints

Jan. 17, 2021

This ONE THING changes the course of your life

James 3:2 We all stumble in many ways. Anyone who is never at fault in what they say is perfect, able to keep their whole body in check.

Words are disproportionate in effect

Everything that everyone does makes sense to them

Ask to understand

Ex. 14:11-12 And they said to Moses, “Why did you bring us out here to die in the wilderness? Weren’t there enough graves for us in Egypt? What have you done to us? Why did you make us leave Egypt? Didn’t we tell you this would happen while we were still in Egypt? We said, ‘Leave us alone! Let us be slaves to the Egyptians.

Life circumstances WERE difficult

Two problems

1) They got used to God’s wonders

Numbers 21:5 and they began to speak against God and Moses. “Why have you brought us out of Egypt to die here in the wilderness?” they complained. “There is nothing to eat here and nothing to drink. And we hate this horrible manna!

Two problems

1) They got used to God’s wonders

2) They didn’t focus on the fact that they were witnesses to miracles

Difficulties were opportunities for God to show his power

They never focused on God, always focused on their own pain

We have taken our eyes off the goodness of God

He wanted to go to Rome as a preacher, but was sent as a prisoner

Phil. 1:12-14 Now I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that what has happened to me has actually served to advance the gospel. As a result, it has become clear throughout the whole palace guard and to everyone else that I am in chains for Christ. And because of my chains, most of the brothers and sisters have become confident in the Lord and dare all the more to proclaim the gospel without fear.

Phil. 4:22 All God’s people here send you greetings, especially those who belong to Caesar’s household.

Phil. 2:14-15 Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.” Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky

1) If you can change your circumstance than change it do something about it

2) If you can’t change your circumstances, change your perspective

“God what are you doing in the unchangeable?”

Held his dreams with open hands

What circumstance are you chained to? What does God want to do?

If you can change something change it

If you can’t change your circumstances change your perspective
