God’s love is selfless
There is a responsibility to love in the family of faith
MT 5:13 “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by people.
MT 5:14 “You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before people, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.
Salt needs to be useful
Light needs to be useful
We need to be helpful… To Whom?
Salt of the earth/ Light of the world
GE 12:2 “I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.
We need to be helpful to the world
We are to be helpful to the world for what purpose?
Matt. 5:16 In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.
We are to be useful to the world so they will be drawn to Jesus
Loving in Jesus’ name is not about coercion,
It is about connection to THE greatest gift
John 6:26-27 Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, you want to be with me because I fed you, not because you understood the miraculous signs. But don’t be so concerned about perishable things like food. Spend your energy seeking the eternal life that the Son of Man can give you.”
Be helpful to your world, so others will be drawn to God
