Love Refreshed

We need Love in order to be healthy
John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
1 John 4:8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
Perhaps we don’t have our definition of Love correct.
God has feelings of love
What do you want me to do for you?” They said, “Lord, let our eyes be opened. Matthew 20:32
Moved with compassion, Jesus touched their eyes. Immediately they received their sight and followed him” Matthew 20.33
“If you are willing, you can heal me and make me clean.” Moved with compassion, Jesus reached out and touched him. ‘I am willing,’ he said. ‘Be healed!’ Instantly the leprosy disappeared, and the man was healed” Mark 1.40-42
God decides to love through actions (the unlovely)
Romans 5:6-8, 10 Christ died for the ungodly.Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die.But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us… while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son,
God’s love is self- sacrificial
Phil. 2:6-8 Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross.
John 15:13 Greater love has no one than this, that a person will lay down his life for his friends.
The opposite of God’s love is selfishness
We are invited to be God’s hands and heart in self-sacrificial actions
Giving God’s best to others without the motive of personal reward
1 Cor. 13:4-7 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Patience
Kind
Doesn’t Envy
Not Boastful/Proud
Keeps no record of wrongs
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth
If Love is other focused, we should be concerned when God is hurt by people
